When it comes to carpet, unlike timber and other more design neutral options, trends and certain designs seem to come and go. But what’s currently hot in the world of carpets across Brisbane and LoganBennetts Carpets explain in our latest post.

If you’re planning a renovation project in 2014, flooring can be one of the biggest ways to transform the look of your home, with carpet one of the most affordable and practical options on the market. Here are some currently popular options in the world of carpet.

1. Bolder, More Dramatic Colours

Gone are the days when you had cream, beige and grey as the only colours to choose for your flooring. We are seeing a lot of customers make a design statement with their carpets by opting for more solid and dense colour options. With eye-catching symmetrical textures and woven patterns these bolder colours and designs can really anchor your flooring and let it set the tone for the rest of the room.

The ‘new neutral’ colours of modern carpeted homes has seen a shift towards subtle blues, greens and which can help an area feel more spacious and be a feature of the room in its own right rather than leaving your furniture tell the story. A benefit of these stronger colours is that they are also more forgiving when it comes to wear and tear.

2. Going Geometric

Incorporating squares, diamonds, and other small shapes into the surface of your carpet like pin dot patterns and hexagonal designs have really taken off in the last 12 months and looks set to continue in 2014. The great thing is that these geometric designs can be understated or elaborate as you like depending on your preferences. When it comes to geometric designs they can also be highly textured multi-level carpets where the patterns really jump out.  Geometric designs and include a consistent colour scheme or provide a point of contrast between multiple colours.

3. Eco-Friendly Carpets

With a range of eco-friendly carpets available on the market, these green carpets are manufactured using a range of sustainable processes and continues to be popular. Not only do they provide a rugged natural look and are hard wearing, softer options like wool are extremely luxurious underfoot and particularly resilient when it comes to wearing and stain protection.

One Piece of advice: Trends come and go, but your carpet will be here to stay so don’t let the trends dictate what you should buy unless they are in line with your own preferences. After all you’re the one who has to live with it. If you want a beige carpet as a classic and understated flooring option to let your walls and furniture tell the story, then that is the best option for you.

Here at Bennetts Carpets we have all the latest styles, textures and designs in the world of carpets but also an extensive range of classic option that people continue to choose.
